The Shift CD / JAZZIZ magazine article Update on The Shift from Grammy nominated pianist/composer John Serry:
Dear friends, colleagues and fans, My new album, The Shift, is available both on CD and for digital download. In addition, there is an article on The Shift in the Summer 2013 issue of JAZZIZ magazine (viewable online) with my album's first track, Pockets, included on a CD that comes with the magazine. The Shift contains eight original compositions by me. The album personnel, from my London quartet, is drummer Mark Mondesir (who has toured with John McLaughlin), bassist Mike Mondesir (who has toured with Billy Cobham and Jack DeJohnette) and saxoponist David O'Higgins (known also for his own groups and recordings.) Sam Burgess (from Ronnie Scott's house trio) replaces Mike on upright bass on four tracks. (Note that there is an error with the drummer credit in the JAZZIZ article.) The Shift is available at CD Babyhttp://cdbaby.com/cd/johnserry, iTunes, Amazon.com andwww.facebook.com/johnserry1(click Music Store). Friends and contacts can email me directly at john@johnserry.com. Free download of the first track, Pockets, herehttps://www.dropbox.com/s/t1ti19w39a8jkwu/1.%20POCKETS%20mp3.mp3. The article on The Shift in JAZZIZ magazine can be read athttp://www.jazziz.com/pageflip/jamessanbornsummer2013. It is on page 40. Here is an excerpt: "Serry returns to the studio in top form on The Shift (SPCo)...The leadoff track,“Pockets,” our selection, showcases the ensemble’s esprit de corps, as they wend their way through the lilting composition. Serry’s playing is as colorful and expressive as ever." JAZZIZ magazine (Summer 2013 issue, Jazziz On Disc section, page 40). I hope that you will enjoy the new album and maybe even write a customer review at one of the outlets mentioned above.
